Lauren Shubow

Lauren Shubow is the founder of Shubow Law, a firm dedicated to helping people navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives. She focuses her practice on appellate matters and criminal defense, bringing close to two decades of experience fighting for her clients in and out of the courtroom.
 
Before starting her own firm, Lauren worked as an Assistant Public Defender in Atlanta where she handled every aspect of criminal defense with a focus on complex appeals.

She has argued cases before appellate courts, written countless briefs, and helped numerous clients successfully challenge wrongful convictions and unfair sentences. Known for her thorough research, clear writing, and compassionate approach, Lauren is committed to giving every client the strong, thoughtful defense they deserve.

She is deeply engaged in the legal community, serving as a member of the Chief Justice’s Commission on Professionalism, the Georgia Bar Commission on Continuing Lawyer Competency, and the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers Amicus Committee.
In addition, Lauren has served as a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program committee member for the Appellate Practice Workshop, designed to help new appellate lawyers in Georgia.

She also was co-chair of a statewide CLE seminar on diminished capacity. 
 
In addition to her advocacy, Lauren is a respected trainer and lecturer, having presented programs with the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Gideon’s Promise, and the Georgia Public Defender Council. She is also a contributing author to the ABA book Defense of Justice: Transformational Tales from the Trenches (2025), extending her impact beyond the courtroom.
 
Lauren is a native Michigander, born in Detroit, Michigan. She went to University of Michigan for both her undergraduate studies and for law school.  When not lawyering, she is an avid fiction reader and enjoys all varieties of arts and crafts. She lives in Atlanta, GA with her husband, and several dogs and cats.
